William J. Novara (d. 2019)
William J. Novara (Bill) was born in Silver Creek, New York, May 4, 1945.
He graduated from Silver Creek Central High School where, as a Junior and Senior, he played in the band and experienced travel to local areas performing solos as he developed his passion for music.
In 1965, he entered the US Army and then was deployed to Vietnam in the 4th Infantry Division. During his service in Vietnam, he played his clarinet in the band. When Bill returned home he put his clarinet away for forty years.
After those many years, Bill picked up his clarinet, took private lessons, and then continued daily practice to achieve his potential. His passion for music grew beyond his expectations and he became an enthusiastic advocate and member of the Buffalo Niagara Concert Band in performance for the community. His commitment and loyalty opened up so many special opportunities, which transformed his dreams into reality–including being invited by his high school music teacher, Ronald Sutherland, to go along with the high school students as they toured and performed in Europe.
Bill retired after forty years from the National Fuel Gas Company in Buffalo. He enjoyed his last ten years in retirement–traveling to many countries. He embraced and lived a blessed life to the fullest.
His last two years were challenged with cancer and Bill died peacefully on April 27, 2019.
